Corporate Citizenship

It takes people to create a sustainable society. For this to happen, the responsibility lies on adults to be responsible for providing children with opportunities to learn and develop, so that they can fully realise their abilities and potential – and grow up to be the global sustainability leaders of tomorrow.

Panasonic Global Eco Learning Programme

One of the ways that Panasonic is working to help achieve this is through the Panasonic Global Kids School Eco Learning Program. In Malaysia, this programme targets primary school students and is organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.

Teaching contents include raising awareness about the environment through hands-on experiences about global warming, biodiversity and more, in order to encourage future actions by the younger generation.

• Causes and effect of global warming
• Understanding the importance of biodiversity
• Thinking about the environment: eco technology
• Thinking about the environment: living an eco life
• Creating products with the environment in mind

The aim is to reach over 10,000 students, starting with schools in the Klang Valley. In addition, there will be activities and factory visits to bring the message to life, by making it more meaningful and memorable.

Kid Witness News Programme

KWN (Kid Witness News) is a global video education programme supported by Panasonic. The aim is to boost creativity and communication skills while fostering teamwork through video production by children at primary and secondary school levels. More than 130,000 children around the world have participated in the KWN programme since its inception in the U.S. in 1989.

In May 2011, the annual KWN Training Camp played host to participants from 35 schools around Malaysia. All 105 of them, comprising students and their accompanying teachers, received intensive training over the 5-day course.

They were taught the essentials of video production, given hands-on opportunity to handle semi-pro cameras provided by Panasonic, and at the end of the programme, worked as teams to produce two short duration assignments.
