Year after year, what drives Panasonic to strive for improvement and innovation in all aspects of its products, systems and solutions?
Perhaps it is this wise counsel of our founder, Tan Sri Konosuke Matsushita, which still rings loud in our ears: “Good job, but be sure to get to work right away on a product that will make this one unsaleable,” (he said to the person in charge, upon the completion of a new product.)
Malaysia is a key market not just in Southeast Asia, but in the world. Over the past 35 years, we have been delivering products and solutions to enhance the standard of living of Malaysians, as well as overseas consumers via our exports. For that, we have been blessed with invaluable support for our brand and products.
And now we are at the brink of another era, ready to face the challenges of a new business landscape. This is made possible by our recent acquisition of Sanyo and Panasonic Electric Works, both of which have opened up business opportunities in the Energy & Eco (E&E) business, where the model is centred around the development of innovative products and systems capable of conservation and motivating greener lifestyles through the concepts of ‘Create Energy’, ‘Store Energy’, ‘Save Energy’ and integrated under ‘Manage Energy’.
The potential in this area is enormous; within a short period, it has positively resulted in generating new business prospects and joint-ventures from various industries and government agencies.
Indeed the world and our environment are facing severe repercussions from climate changes and depletion of resources. Now more than ever, there is a need to develop solutions for a more sustainable future, to reduce the impact on Mother Nature, and to be more mindful about the way we consume resources.
As a leading electronics company, we recognise our responsibility to initiate change – to be a part of that change. And we will ensure that happens by pledging our commitment to make the environment central to our business activities.
Even now, we already have systems in place that enable efficient use of energy with virtually zero CO2 emissions to minimise environmental impact.
Redefining Panasonic Malaysia’s business direction is just the start.
In preparing the way for future generations, we declare our dedication to be Malaysia’s collaborative partner in building an ECONATION: a country that is not just economically sound but also practises sustainability in the way we live and the way we work.
And equally important, we want to fulfil our company’s global vision: to be the No. 1 green innovation company in the electronics industry by 2018, and be able to proudly celebrate Panasonic Corporation’s 100th anniversary.
