For instance, Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory (PHL) is a video research lab responsible for creating technologies that drive image compression formats, Blu-ray standardisation, disc authoring and production work. The tight partnership between Walt Disney Studios and PHL has made Panasonic Viera's leadership and advancement in the realm of 3D realism possible.
PHL's on-site research and understanding of stringent technical requirements further enabled Panasonic to be heavily involved in contributing to 3D productions and supporting film makers of the groundbreaking blockbuster Avatar. More recently, Panasonic's 3D technology was used in TRON: Legacy, The Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Cars 2 and Avengers.
